Ossidian's
web-based student administration and courseware hosting
options and fees |

Ossidian
can host the courseware modules and manage student administration
and reporting via its web site at www.ossidian.com using
the Ossidian Learning Administration System (OLAS). Several
major global enterprise customers use this system. The
advantages of this fully-hosted web-based solution are:
It can be very rapidly deployed
It requires no investment in servers or server software
licences or any infrastructure other than web access
for the student
Ossidian manages the whole process: we generate and
send study activity reports and manage all student enrolment
and registration for modules
It can be a good interim solution pending purchase
of a corporate LMS or integration of courseware into
a corporate platform

Option
1 - Student Enrolment from Pre-defined Batch file
We can load lists of students into the database from
a file that you provide to include: department; first
name; last name; email address; user id; password/PIN.
Option 2 - Student Enrolment in a Random Batch
We can create a pre-defined number of new User IDs
for a single department, company or group. You can register
students for some or all from the list of currently
available courses.
You can also create a new department or assign the
new user IDs to an existing department.
You can also subsequently change each student's courses
one by one or for the whole batch / department if you
wish
Option 3 - Student Enrolment one by one
Each student can be enrolled individually, and allocated
a department, User ID, Password and courses.

1. Add or remove courses
from a student's registered courses, either individually
or for all the students in a department.
2. Change the expiration date of a course licence or for
all courses for a student, or for everyone in a department.
3. Re-allocate students from one department to another.
4. Change User ID and/or Password.

Student
communications |
|
|
|
When we enrol
a student, register or de-register them for courses, or
make any other changes to their status, we usually write
to them to alert them to this. This is why we like to
have each student's email address in the database. Ossidian
has standard email templates for many situations and we
send these automatically when a student's details change.
Ossidian can create special emails for corporate account
customers, as required, and send them.

Reports |
|
|
|
Our basic study
report is created in MS Excel and shows:
date and time of study sessions
which courses were studied
who studied which courses and when
Your students can all be in one "Department",
or they can be clustered into smaller groups and reported
on by group/department.
We create whatever report format you want, or simply send
you the raw data (in MS Excel) to analyse yourself.
We can send you the reports whenever you want, however
most customers are happy with a monthly or quarterly report.
By analysing the above data, you can see which are
the most popular modules, who has/has not studied, and
how much they studied. You can see when people are using
the modules. For other customers we have configured
other reports - for example showing return on investment,
based on assumptions about online study time displacing
"equivalent" classroom courses.

Hosting
Service |

Ossidian
offers to host all courseware at www.ossidian.com so
that it is available 24 x 7 x 365. Hosting fees are
built into the student administration fees. Students
have the option of taking audio versions of our courseware
if they have a DSL connection or better. On the Login
screen, the student can select "Audio" or
"Non-audio" courses. If the student selects
Audio, the system presents audio versions (where available).
If a module does not yet have audio, that is indicated
with the title.
The audio option where available will enhance the learning
experience for the student. 20 titles out of 32 have audio
at present.

of Learning Management systems, either as "fire-and-forget"
stand-alone modules with limited tracking, or in some
cases more integrated to allow additional tracking (e.g.
by tutorial) and allowing bookmarking as well as recording
test score results, and more.
