A modem that can transmit data over ordinary telephone lines
at a rate of 56 kbps
(thousand bits per second).
KA band. The band width in the
20 to 30 GHz
range.
kpbs. A measurement of data
rate in thousands of bits per second that that travel
through a channel
in one second.
Kermit. A communications protocol
used for file transfer or for terminal emulation.
Key pulsing. A telephone system
that requires the caller to use the telephone key pad to dial
a number.
Kilohertz. A measure of electromagnetic
frequency in
thousands of cycles per second. 1 KHz is equal to 1000 cycles
per second.
Ku Band. The bandwidth in the
11 to 14 GHz
range used for medium-power satellites.
